1. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, had laid the foundation stone of the city on April 13 in 1948.

    Some more points can be added to this list like –
    1) Bhubaneswar’s name has been derived from Trubhubaneswar (Lord of the Three worlds). Its other names are Ekamra (Eka+amra meaning one big mango tree)
    2) Bhubaneswar’s Foundation Day is celebrated on 13th April, the day the capital was shifted from Cuttack in 1948
    3) Bhubaneswar is situated in between Daya & Kuakhia river. Daya river banks (Dhauli) is the place where the historic Kalinga war was fought between Samrat Ashoka & people of Kalinga
    4) Bhubaneswar Rapid Transport System (BRTS) is spoon to be introduced in the city in the line of Ahmedabad
    5) Bhubaneswar Airport turned international on 10th July 2015
    6) Bhubaneswar has been ranked among the Top 10 non-metro cities in India to relocate
