German to develop Bhubaneswar Smart City


The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) on Friday gave a proposal of Euro 140 million (Rs 1046 crore) to German ambassador to India Martin Ney for developing a smart city.

German embassy consul general (Kolkata) and business representatives of nine German companies held a meeting with Housing and Urban development (H&UD) minister Puspendra Singhdeo. The meeting was followed by a presentation, which was given by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited officials.

German delegates that it wants development of streets, public bicycle sharing project, e-rickshaw project and city bus modernization.

Development of streets will require Euro 106 Million, public bicycle sharing project is worth Euro 2.4 million. The e-rickshaw and modernization of city buses projects have been earmarked at Euro 32 million.

The German delegation has evinced interest in several smart city related projects. But, we will prioritise street development, bicycle ride, public transport and e-rickshaw.
