With 107 blocks in 12 districts sustaining more than 33 per cent crop loss due to drought conditions in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Rs. 1000 Crore Drought Relief package and additional assistance of Rs 4500 Crore for Rabi Season.
CM Naveen Patnaik also announced that “Short-term Kharif loans will be converted to medium-term loans in drought-affected areas in cases of 50 per cent and above crop damage. The rate of interest of short-term loans will be applicable for converted medium-term loans,”.
Similarly, the package announced by the government said agriculture input subsidy will also be provided to the farmers other than small and marginal farmers at the same rates subject to celling of two hectare per farmers.CM Naveen Patnaik also announced that affected farmers will be provided food @ Rs 1/kg for adults, 500 gm for children for 60 days.
