Naveen Patnaik to join Mahanadi issue talks in Delhi


Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the second consecutive day on Thursday held parleys with above 100 organisations including some political parties on the Mahanadi issue.

Representatives from over 115 organisations including political parties like CPI, Samajwadi Party, Rastriya Janata Dal, trade unions like AITUC, CITU and Krushak Mahasangha today met the Chief Minister and gave their opinion on the Mahanadi issue.

Naveen Patnaik, who has been invited by the Centre for a tripartite meeting on Mahanadi river water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister has proposed to join the tripartite meeting called by Union Water Resources Ministry on Mahanadi river issue between Odisha and Chhattisgarh in Delhi on September 17.

Amid the tug of war between the two neighbouring states over sharing of Mahanadi river water, the Ministry of Water Resources had asked Odisha government to suggest possible for tripartite meeting to resolve the issue.
