Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s note ban announcement on November 8, shoots of several films had been stalled, while theatres had cut down on the number of shows and re-scheduled release dates.
But two months later, the film industry is now back on track with a host of films, both big and small budget, being shot.
The mahurat of Mu Khanti Odia Jhia was held recently. The flick stars Elina Samantray, along with newcomer Ranveer, in lead roles. Besides, comedian Pappu Pom Pom is also part of the film.
Director Avatar Singh says: “The main consumers of cinema, the ones in the rural areas, took time to adapt to the changes. But, things have improved and we are looking forward to garnering our audience back.”
Another big budget film that will hit the theatres is Dil Deewana Heigala starring Babushan and Sheetal. Other movies to hit the screens include Dil Ka Raja directed by S. Dillip Panda and starring Jyoti Ranjan Nayak and Pinki Priyadarshini among others and Tike Khara Tike Chhai directed by Suraj.
Post-demonetisation, people did not turn up at counters due to cash crisis. Very few films released in the past two months and they failed to draw crowd.
