Odia Girl Anwesha Wins Silver Medal in National Girls Chess Meet

After registering seven wins and four draws, Odia Girl Anwesha Mishra From Cuttack has won the silver medal in 29th National Under-13 Girls Chess Championship held at Gurgaon in Haryana on Monday.

In a four hour long mind boggling game, Anwesha achieved this feat by defeating higher rated players from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.

Anwesha had achieved the feat by defeating WFM Lakshmi C in the eleventh round and scored nine points. She registered seven win and four draw in the meet. She started the meet with sixth rank and finished second and earned 84 elo rating.

She is elder daughter of Prakash Kumar Mishra and Reena Mishra. Her coach Rajes Nayak played most important role in shaping her ability. Odisha’s IM Padmini rout bagged gold medal in the national U-13 chess for continuously three years in the 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Notably Priyanka Nutakki from Andhra Pradesh bagged The Gold medal with 10 points and Vantika Agarwal from New Delhi bagged the bronze medal with nine points.
