Odisha college students as volunteers in managing traffic

Odisha government decided to use college and University students as volunteers in managing traffic.

The scheme will first be implemented in Bhubaneswar and later extended to neighbouring Cuttack city, which is part of the twin city police commissionerate system.

A proposal on the Student Traffic Volunteer Scheme was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The students of colleges and Universities can help the police personnel in manning traffic during peak hours of the day.

“A student can maximum devote three hours per day for managing the traffic in the twin cities. They will get incentive for their service. The amount will be directly deposited in their bank accounts,” said a home department official.
