Odisha Government has provided 1.03 crore for poor students


Odisha Government to provided 1.03 crore to 95 private schools for admission of 1,460 poor students.

The amount paid through block education officers (BEOs) was for 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years.

In a circular issued on December 18, 2010, the State Government had asked all district Collectors to reserve 25 per cent of seats in private schools for admission of poor students.

School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said action will be initiated against those violating the directive of the Government as per the Right To Education Act.

Mishra said this in a written reply to a question from Dilip Ray (BJP) in the monsoon session of the Assembly which concluded on September 29.
