Odisha will be the First State to construct houses for urban poor people under the “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana” launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The government of India had earlier launched ‘Housing for All’ scheme, which has now been reformed as “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana”. The Scheme has been launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 25th June 2015.
The Odisha government official informed that two housing projects would be launched in Bhubaneswar on the government lands. In this project about 700 houses would be built for urban poor under the “Affordable Housing in Partnership” component of urban housing mission.
Odisha became the first state to have submitted a comprehensive Housing for All action plan for the state which was appreciated by the Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) Ministry and was requested to provide a copy of the plan to other states.
