Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday inaugurated a Skill Development Institute (SDI), established by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
It is the first such Skill Development Institute established by the oil ministry in line with the National Skill Development Mission of the Government of India.

Dharmendra Pradhan said the Centre is ready to invest `500 crore for setting up the permanent campus of SDI which would be a centre of excellence. The State Government has been requested to provide 100 acres land for this purpose.
The temporary facility of SDI at Mancheswar Industrial Estate, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the day, is equipped to impart training on two (welding and electrician) out of 34 trades identified by experts.
Addressing the occasion, Naveen said “I am confident, the institute with its focus on imparting skill training in trades relevant to the downstream petroleum and petrochemicals sector will boost skilled manpower supply for the nation,”.
