Paramita Satpathy to get Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award 2016


Acclaimed writer Paramita Satpathy to receive Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2016 for her short story ‘Prapti’.

Satpathy has already received several awards for her valuable contribution in the field of literature.

Prominent among those are Odisha Sahitya Academi Award, Bharatiya Bhasa Parishad Yuva Puraskar, Gangadhar Rath Foundation Award, Bhubaneswar Book Fair Award, and Seashore Srujan Samman.

Satpathy, who has seven collections of short stories and a novel to her credit, has also written some popular books like- ‘Kurei Fula’, ‘Apathacharini’, ‘Narikabi O Anyamane’, ‘Antaranga Chala’, ‘Birala Rupaka’, ‘Bhashakhyara’, ‘Bibidha Swapna’, ‘Chandan ke Phool’, ‘Intimate Pretence’ and ‘Dur ke Pahad.

“I am extremely happy after I got the news. Besides, wishes from my family members, friends, and well wishers have doubled my happiness. I have never expected for the award as selection for the prestigious award is made in a unique way. I am happy that the jury liked my book and selected me,” Satpathy said.
