Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik is protesting to save Puri Beach

International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik is protesting through his art to save the dirty Bankimuhan sea beach in Puri, Odisha from pollution. In a tweet today, the famous artists said he is sitting on a dharna at the beach and protesting through his art to save the beach from pollution. He also shared images of the heavily polluted beach, which evoked supporting reactions from Twitterati.

“I am protesting (sitting on dharna) through my art against beach pollution at Bankimuhan,” he tweeted along with the images. Last year, Sudarsan had tweeted to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik to draw his attention towards the need to clean the beach. However, despite CM’s reported direction, the condition of the beach has not improved.

Last month also, Sudarsan had created a sand art to show the poor state of Bankimuhan beach. Sudarsan had then warned that he would sit on a dharna if the authorities failed to clean the beach. “Requesting the government to clear its stand on pollution near Bankimuhan at Puri, otherwise, I will sit on dharna on the beach,” he had tweeted.
