Odisha government decided to gift a school welcome kit to children of class 1, 2 and 3 at the beginning of the coming academic session. The kit will comprise of a school bag, a notebook, pencil, eraser and a story book.
The programme is part of a learning enhancement programme where we would give emphasis on joyful learning. There are many children of economically weaker sections who cannot afford these learning materials,” said project director of Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA), Mahendra Kumar Mallick.
The price of each kit is around Rs 170, which will be given to nearly 20 lakh children of government and government-aided schools. The funds for the programme will be spent from Sarva Shikhya Abhiyan.
