Bhubaneswar railway station ranks 13th among cleanest rail station in the country in the Swachh Rail Survey conducted by the Railway ministry through the Quality Council of India (QCI).
407 railway stations belonging to A1 and A categories were assigned ranks on the basis of specific parameters. A third party process audit, direct observation and feedback from the citizens were considered for the rankings.
Apart from the Bhubaneswar railway station, Puri railway station was ranked 37th among the 75 A1 category stations surveyed across the country.
Ten Odisha stations which stood out among 332 A category railway stations are Khurda road railway station (ranked 75), Jajpur-Keonjhar road (80), Bhadrak (94), Cuttack (100), Rourkela (105), Balasore (107), Berhampur (117), Rayagada (266), Sambalpur (287) and Jharsuguda ranked 290. Nevertheless, the ranking of the 16 zones of the Indian Railways across the country has hailed the East Coast Railway (ECoR) based at Bhubaneswar for its performance in maintaining cleanliness on the railway station and platforms falling under its jurisdiction.
The ECoR was ranked second in the country second only to the South East Central Railway.
