Odisha government has proposed to bear 50 per cent of the project cost for new railway line between Puri and Konark. It was announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the twitter handle of @CMO_Odisha.
Naveen said the new line boost tourism potential of Odisha and local economy of the heritage city. It will be an extremely profitable venture for Railways, said the tweet.
He urged upon railway minister Suresh Prabhu for early sanction of this project and signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for timely completion of the project.
Prabhu immediately tweeted back. “We are ready to sign it any day, we are waiting for it, as it was our initiative to share ownership with states of these JVs. @Naveen_Odisha,” said Prabhu.
Survey work of the new line has been completed, said railway sources.
