Two Tribal students, Ms. Shanti Murmu, Mr. Dharamananda Bhoi from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) have been selected as panelists at an Interactive Dialogue between United Nations Assistant Secretary General and UN Women’s Deputy Executive Director Ms Lakshmi Puri and young leaders tomorrow.
Both create history by becoming Ashoka Youth Venturers. Ashoka Innovators for the Public, India, Youth Venture program recently selected its cohort of 17 young social innovators as role models for the youth, from across India within the age group of 12 and 20.
Shanti Murmu started a venture named Parivartan which is an advocacy team comprising Anganwadi and ASHA workers and youths from her village. The team organises meetings with women self help groups and adolescent girls to discuss the pressing issues they face daily.
Dharamananda Bhoi, has started a group called Unnati which is mobilising rural youths of the State by fostering a supportive community around sports and games. He is building partnerships with local youth clubs which help him raise awareness about the importance of sports and major stakeholders in local Government who are actively involved in helping him foster this supportive eco-system.
Ashoka endeavours to reach out and wishes the tribal children and Youth of Odisha to participate and be selected as Youth Ventures. Tribal Populace at the lowest strata as Changemakers can only transform the state and the country.
